click on photo to enlarge This very pretty reformed 2 bed town town house set in the village of Salares has been reformed with careful thought and detail to reflect Spanish history and the Moorish influence. Salares is a small Andalucían village with Moorish origins and a fine church tower, once a Moorish minaret. When the owners began to plan their house they wanted to reflect this Moorish heritage in the decoration. Their first acquisition was an old butter jar bought in Morocco. The Arabic name for a butter jar is a Jebana hence the name of the house “Dar al Jebana”. There are many other Moroccan artefacts that contribute to the cosy atmosphere of this delightful home. Salares is an excellent centre for walks of all levels and difficulties and Dar al Jebana is an ideal house for walkers or indeed anyone who wants to enjoy life in a picturesque pueblo (Spanish village). On the ground floor is the entrance room with storage for coats, shoes and walking equipment and cloakroom with hand basin and W.C. Originally this would have been used as a home for a mule or for making the local wine. On the first floor is a bright, cheerful and well equipped kitchen with gas hob, electric oven, fridge and washing machine. Leading from the kitchen is the dinning room with colourful rugs, paintings and pottery. The second floor has a generous double bedroom and an attractive shower room The third floor has a Berber style sitting room with television which receives Spanish stations and plays D.V.D.s The double doors with a small balcony look out onto a beautiful view of the National Park. Next to this is the twin bedded room, again with a Berber feel from the hangings and blankets. Stairs lead up from this room to the roof terrace which has a wonderful all round view of the mountains and the village – a truly beautiful place to have drinks, meals, barbeques or just to relax on the loungers. Tariff based on 2 persons, additional persons are priced per week Low Season: €330/£260 pw (Nov -31st March, excl Xmas and New Year) additional persons €25 per person Mid Season: €340/£268 pw (April, May, June, Sep, Oct, Xmas, New Year) additional persons €30 per person High Season €355/£280 (July and August) additional persons €35 per person Please note this house is not suitable for young children. |
